The Virtual Jewish Culinary Center (Virtual JCC) was founded with two guiding principles.
Jewish Food is diverse and delicious! There are so many classic Jewish dishes to cook and so much being added to the canon by modern chefs that cooking Jewish food is a creative endeavor everyone can enjoy.
Real community can be built using virtual platforms. You can make friends while you improve your repertoire in the kitchen. We all live on screens, but too much of what we do is just watching and consuming. At the Virtual JCC, time on screens means developing friendships while learning together.
The Virtual Jewish Culinary Center is a project of Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp, which offers a fabulous Jewish Culinary Summer Camp for Children on 640 acres in beautiful Copake, New York.
Adam, a food industry veteran and the Director of Berkshire Hills Culinary Camp, is a sought-after private chef and experienced educator of children and adults. Trained in Italy, he has cooked in numerous restaurants and at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center, he led a jam and pickle kitchen, and he has also worked as a cheesemaker at a goat dairy. Adam is excited to share his passion for food and all the ways that food builds community and connects us to the environment. He lives with his daughter, Halleli, and their dog, Noodles, in Durham, NC.
